Bars work in Salt Lake City
Salt Lake City drinkers search for bars the way they search for anything else now, on a phone, often the same evening. The searches cluster around downtown, around the university and around the growing cluster of rooms in Sugar House and along the Granary District. Salt Lake City has a dense downtown grid where a bar can sit a block from a competitor and never appear in the same search results. Most of the bars here are independent, owner operated rooms rather than national chains, so the search demand is spread across many small operators rather than concentrated in a few big brands. That spread is the opening. A bar that publishes useful pages about its neighbourhood, its hours and its kind of night can hold the searches that matter without outbidding anyone.
