Restaurants work in Clearwater
Clearwater runs on visitors and on the people who live here year round, and both groups search for food before they go anywhere. The demand splits along the beach and the mainland. Along Clearwater Beach the searches lean toward seafood, waterfront tables, breakfast before the boat and places open late, and they spike hard in the warm months when the hotels fill. Inland, along Gulf to Bay and up US 19, the searches are more local and more routine: lunch near the office, pizza delivery to the neighbourhood, a table for a birthday. Chains hold a lot of the interstate frontage and the big plazas, and independent owner operators hold the beach blocks, the downtown strip and the neighbourhood corners. Both are competing for the same map results and the same short list of names somebody reads on a phone.
