Restaurants work in Costa Mesa
Costa Mesa sits between Newport Beach and Irvine, and the restaurant trade here follows that position. The city has a dense run of restaurants along Harbor Boulevard and around South Coast Plaza, a growing cluster of small owner operated kitchens in the streets off 19th Street, and a steady turnover of concepts in the newer mixed use buildings near the Mesa Verde and Westside edges. Search demand for restaurants in Costa Mesa is split between people who live in the city and people who are already nearby for shopping, work or a game at the fairgrounds. Both groups search on a phone, close to the moment they decide to eat, and they search by dish, by neighbourhood and by occasion as often as they search by cuisine. Chains and franchises hold a lot of the paid search around the shopping district, while owner operators pick up the long tail of specific dish and neighbourhood searches. That long tail is where a publishing platform earns its place.
