Restaurants work in Stamford
Stamford sits on the New York border and its restaurant trade runs on two kinds of demand. There is the downtown and Harbor Point trade, where offices, apartments and the waterfront bring people out on weeknights, and there is the trade that comes off the Merritt Parkway and I-95 from Greenwich, Darien and New Canaan. The market is a mix of owner operators running one or two rooms and small local groups, with national chains holding the mall and the interstate exits. Paid search in this trade is fought over by the delivery platforms, which bid on cuisine and neighbourhood terms across the whole metro, so the organic results underneath them are where an independent kitchen can hold ground. The searches themselves are local and specific: a cuisine, a neighbourhood, a night of the week, a private room, a brunch.
