Content Calendar for Vacation Rentals

A content calendar tells you what to publish and when. For a vacation rental business, the useful version is built from what guests search, not from what the trade says.

The phrases guests actually type

Guests do not search for the words the trade uses. They search for the trip. They type things like cottage near the beach with a hot tub, dog friendly cabin with a fenced yard, or place to stay for a family of six near the lake. They add the month, the town and the reason for the trip. A calendar built from keyword research starts with those phrases. It does not start with a list of amenities written by the owner. The research finds the words people use, then the plan follows them.

One worked example

Say the research shows people searching for a two bedroom place near a specific town with parking. The calendar would hold a post on that subject. The post would cover where the property sits, what parking looks like, how many people it sleeps and what is within walking distance. It would answer the questions a guest asks before they book. It would link to the booking page and to a nearby post on things to do in that town. The plan decides the order. You can move that post to the front if the season calls for it.

What local intent means here

For vacation rentals, local intent is most of the search. People pick a place to stay by the place, not by the brand. They name the town, the beach, the trail or the venue. They search for somewhere to stay near a wedding, a race or a lake. A post that ignores the location misses the search. A post that names the town, the street and the landmarks around it meets the search where it happens. The calendar should carry a steady run of these local subjects, not one page about the area.

Who this is not right for

This is not right for you if you want to write the posts yourself and keep full control of every word. It is not right if you have no website to publish to. It is not right if you need bookings this week, because publishing and indexing take time and we do not control search engines. It is not right if you want a tool that waits for you to fill in a calendar. This one is built from the keyword research and does not need anybody to fill it in.
