Bakeries work in New York
New Yorkers search for bakeries by neighbourhood, by subway stop and by what they want on the counter that morning. The demand is spread across the five boroughs rather than pooled in one downtown, so a bakery in Astoria and a bakery in Park Slope are chasing different searches even when they sell the same bread. The paid search around bakery terms in the city is carried mostly by delivery apps and multi location brands bidding on generic words, while owner operators pick up the neighbourhood and product searches that carry the intent to walk in. That leaves a steady stream of local searches for the bakery that has pages written for them.
