Content Calendar for Squarespace

HaloSEO plans, writes and publishes posts straight into your Squarespace site. Here is how the connection works, what lands on your pages, and what to expect when something goes wrong.

How HaloSEO connects to Squarespace

You connect your Squarespace site from the HaloSEO dashboard. Squarespace uses an API key for outside tools, so you create a key in your Squarespace settings and paste it into HaloSEO. The key lets HaloSEO read your site structure and publish blog posts to the blog collection you choose. It does not give HaloSEO access to your billing, your store orders or your domain settings. You can revoke the key in Squarespace at any time, and publishing stops the moment you do.

What a published post looks like on your site

HaloSEO publishes through the Squarespace blog collection, so every post uses your own theme. Headings, body text, links and images pick up the fonts, colours and spacing you already set. There is no separate HaloSEO template and no widget to style. The post appears in your blog list, in your archive and in your RSS feed like any post you write yourself. You can open it in the Squarespace editor and change anything after it goes live.

What happens on Squarespace that does not happen elsewhere

Squarespace handles URLs and sitemaps for you. When HaloSEO publishes a post, Squarespace builds the slug, adds the page to the sitemap and submits it for indexing. HaloSEO does not need to touch those files. Squarespace also runs its own image resizing, so HaloSEO sends the original image and Squarespace serves the right size for each screen. On other platforms HaloSEO often has to manage sitemaps and image variants itself. On Squarespace it leaves that to the platform.

What breaks, and what happens when it does

The most common failure is an expired or revoked API key. HaloSEO marks the connection as broken, pauses the calendar and emails you. Nothing is published until you add a new key. If Squarespace rejects a post, for example because a required field is missing, HaloSEO keeps the draft and shows the error in the dashboard. If a scheduled post fails, HaloSEO retries once, then holds the post and moves the rest of the calendar forward. We do not claim a fix time we have not measured. You will see the status of every post in the dashboard.

Who this is not right for

This is not right for you if you want to approve every word before it goes live. HaloSEO publishes on a schedule, and the point is that you do not review each post. It is also not right for sites on Squarespace Personal plans that do not include the blog collection, or for anyone who is not willing to create an API key. If you want a tool that only suggests drafts for you to paste in by hand, HaloSEO is not that tool.
