Backlink Builder for Squarespace

HaloSEO connects to your Squarespace site, writes and publishes posts in your theme, and builds backlinks to them. Here is how the connection works and what to expect.

How HaloSEO connects to Squarespace

You connect your site through the Squarespace API. You approve the connection from your Squarespace account, and HaloSEO receives a token for that site. The permission covers reading your site structure and creating and updating blog posts. HaloSEO does not need your Squarespace password, and you can revoke the token from your Squarespace settings at any time. If you run more than one Squarespace site, each one is connected separately.

What a published post looks like on your site

Posts are created as native Squarespace blog items. They use your existing blog collection, your fonts, your colours and your layout. There is no separate HaloSEO page, no iframe and no widget on the front end. Images are uploaded to your Squarespace asset library. Internal links point to your own pages and posts. You can edit any post in the Squarespace editor after it publishes, and your edits stay.

What happens on Squarespace that does not happen elsewhere

Squarespace stores blog content as blocks, not as one HTML field. HaloSEO writes to that block structure, so headings, lists, quotes and images arrive as editable Squarespace blocks rather than a single pasted block of markup. That means you can drag a section, restyle a heading or swap an image with the normal Squarespace tools. Squarespace also handles the URL slugs and the sitemap, so HaloSEO reads them back after publishing to keep internal links correct.

What breaks, and what happens when it does

The connection can fail if you change your Squarespace plan, revoke the token, or if Squarespace returns an error during publishing. When a publish fails, HaloSEO retries, then marks the post as failed and shows the error in your dashboard. Nothing is published twice. If a post publishes but a later edit fails, the live post stays as it was. If your theme changes and a block type is no longer supported, the post still exists and you can fix the block in the Squarespace editor. We do not delete posts on your site without your action.

Who this is not right for

This is not right for you if you want to write every post by hand and only need a keyword tool. It is not right for you if your Squarespace site is a single page with no blog collection, because there is nowhere to publish. It is not right for you if you need approval from a legal or compliance team before anything goes live, unless you use the review step before publishing. And it is not right for you if you expect guaranteed rankings or a set timeframe. We do not promise either.
