Squarespace

Shopify Integration for Squarespace

HaloSEO publishes to Squarespace through the Squarespace API. This page explains the connection, the permissions it asks for, what a post looks like on your site, and what happens when something breaks.

How HaloSEO connects to Squarespace

You connect your Squarespace site from the HaloSEO dashboard. You sign in to Squarespace, approve the access request, and HaloSEO stores an access token for that site. The permission it needs is write access to blog content on the site you choose. It does not need access to your store, your orders, your customers or your billing. You can revoke the token from your Squarespace account at any time, and HaloSEO stops publishing the moment you do.

What a published post looks like on your Squarespace site

HaloSEO creates the post as a native Squarespace blog item. It uses your existing blog collection, so the post inherits your theme. Headings, paragraphs, lists, images and internal links render with the same styles as the posts you write yourself. The post appears in your blog index and in your sitemap. Nothing is injected into your theme files and no custom code block is added. If you edit the post in Squarespace afterwards, your edits stay.

What happens on Squarespace that does not happen elsewhere

Squarespace handles blog content through its own content API, and it treats a blog item as a page in your site structure. That means HaloSEO has to resolve your blog collection before it can publish, and it has to respect the URL format your site uses. Squarespace also runs its own image pipeline, so images HaloSEO sends are processed by Squarespace rather than served from our side. Scheduling follows the Squarespace publish date, not a separate queue.

What breaks, and what happens when it does

The common failures are an expired or revoked token, a blog collection that was deleted or renamed, and a publish that Squarespace rejects because a slug is already taken. When a publish fails, HaloSEO marks the post as failed in the dashboard and shows the error Squarespace returned. It does not retry blindly. It holds the post and waits for you to reconnect or fix the cause, then you can publish it again. Nothing is published twice.

Who this is not right for

This is not right for you if your site is not on Squarespace, if you run a Squarespace store and want product pages written rather than blog posts, or if you want to approve every sentence before it goes live. HaloSEO publishes on its own schedule. If you need a person to sign off on each post, use a writing tool and publish by hand.
