Custom API

SEO Images for Custom API

HaloSEO writes the alt text for each image from what is actually in the picture, sizes and compresses the file, and names it after the post. Here is how that works on a site you reach through a Custom API.

How HaloSEO connects to your Custom API

You give HaloSEO an endpoint and a credential for that endpoint. The credential needs permission to create and update posts, and to upload media. Nothing else. HaloSEO does not need access to your database, your server or your admin login. If your API splits posts and media across two endpoints, give us both. We test the connection before we publish anything.

What the published post looks like on your site

The post is created through your API, so it renders in your own theme. Your templates, your fonts, your layout. HaloSEO does not ship a page builder or a wrapper. The images arrive as normal media entries in your CMS, with the alt text, the compressed file and the file name set. If your theme controls image markup, your theme still controls it.

What happens on Custom API that does not happen elsewhere

On a Custom API site, HaloSEO has to work with the fields you expose. If your API has a custom field for the hero image, we write to that field. If your API expects a media ID rather than a URL, we send the ID. The alt text is written from the picture itself, so it describes the image and does not repeat the target keyword. The file is named after the post, which keeps your media library readable.

What breaks, and what happens when it does

The common failures are a credential that has expired, an endpoint that changed shape, or a media upload that your API rejects for size or type. When a call fails, HaloSEO records the error and stops that step. It does not retry in a loop and it does not publish a post with a missing image. You see the failure in the dashboard with the response your API returned, so you can fix the cause and rerun.

Who this is not right for

This is not right for you if your site has no API and you cannot add one. It is also not right for you if you want to approve every image by hand before it goes live, because HaloSEO publishes on its own. And it is not right for you if you expect a ranking or a date. We do not control search engines and we do not promise positions.
