Squarespace Integration for Custom API
HaloSEO connects to your Squarespace site once and publishes finished posts to it. This page explains how that connection works and what it does not do.
How the connection works and what permission it needs
You connect your Squarespace site to HaloSEO once. The connection lets HaloSEO publish a finished post to your site as a normal post. It does not need a plugin installed on Squarespace and there is no add on to keep up to date. You can disconnect the site from HaloSEO at any time, and publishing stops from that point.
What the published post looks like
The post goes out as a normal post on your Squarespace site. It uses your site's own theme, so it looks like the rest of your content. It sits on your own domain, not on a HaloSEO subdomain. HaloSEO does not host the blog for you. Your site remains the place the post lives.
What happens on Squarespace that does not happen elsewhere
Squarespace has its own post editor and its own theme system. HaloSEO publishes into that system rather than around it. There is no separate blog to maintain and no second place to log in to read the post. The post appears where your other posts appear, and your theme decides how it is displayed.
What breaks, and what happens when it does
If the connection to your Squarespace site stops working, publishing stops. HaloSEO does not fall back to hosting the post itself. You would need to reconnect the site before posts can go out again. If your theme changes, the post follows the new theme, because the post is stored in Squarespace and not in HaloSEO. Nothing else on your Squarespace site is changed by HaloSEO.
Who this is not right for
This is not right for you if you want HaloSEO to host your blog. It does not. It is also not right for you if you want a plugin you control and update yourself, because there is no plugin. And it is not right for you if you expect HaloSEO to change other parts of your Squarespace site, such as pages, navigation or design. It only publishes posts.
