Squarespace Integration for Shopify

HaloSEO publishes to Shopify stores. This page explains how the connection works, what a post looks like on your storefront, and what to expect when something goes wrong.

How HaloSEO connects to Shopify

You install the HaloSEO app from the Shopify App Store and approve the access request. HaloSEO asks for permission to read and write blog articles, read your product and collection data, and read your theme files. It does not ask for orders, customers or payment details. The connection uses Shopify's own app permissions, so you can revoke it at any time from your Shopify admin. Once approved, HaloSEO reads your blog structure and your product catalogue so it knows where posts should go and what they should link to.

What a published post looks like on your store

HaloSEO writes the post into your Shopify blog as a normal article. It uses your theme's own article template, so the header, footer, fonts, colours and navigation match the rest of your site. There is no separate HaloSEO page and no embedded widget. Images are uploaded to your Shopify files and served from your domain. Internal links point to your products, collections and other articles. If you edit the post later in Shopify, your edits stay.

What happens on Shopify that does not happen elsewhere

Shopify gives HaloSEO product and collection data through the same connection, so posts can link to the products you actually sell and to the collections they sit in. When you add a product or change a collection handle, HaloSEO can pick that up and update the links in posts it manages. Shopify also handles the redirect when an article URL changes, so a renamed post does not leave a dead link behind. On other platforms these steps are manual.

What breaks, and what happens when it does

The connection can drop if you uninstall the app, change your Shopify plan, or revoke permissions in your admin. When that happens, HaloSEO stops publishing and flags the site in your dashboard. Posts already live stay live, because they are normal Shopify articles. If a theme update removes the article template, posts still render but may lose styling. If a product is deleted, links to it are flagged for review rather than rewritten automatically. HaloSEO retries a failed publish on a schedule and tells you if it keeps failing.

Who this is not right for

This is not right for you if you run a Shopify store with no blog and no plan to use one, because there is nowhere for posts to go. It is not right for you if you want to approve every sentence before it goes live, since HaloSEO publishes on its own schedule. It is also not right for you if you need posts in a language or market your Shopify store does not serve, or if you sell only through social channels and marketplaces with no Shopify storefront.
