Squarespace
Local SEO for Squarespace
HaloSEO connects to your Squarespace site, researches local keywords, writes the posts, publishes them and builds links. Here is how the connection works and what to expect.
How HaloSEO connects to Squarespace
You connect your Squarespace site once, from your HaloSEO account. Squarespace gives HaloSEO an API key that is tied to your site. That key lets HaloSEO read your pages and publish new blog posts to your blog collection. It does not let HaloSEO change your design, your commerce settings, your domains or your billing. You can revoke the key in Squarespace at any time, and publishing stops the moment you do.
What a published post looks like
HaloSEO publishes into your existing blog collection, so every post uses your theme. Headings, body text, links and images take on the fonts, colours and spacing you already set. There is no separate HaloSEO template and no widget to style. If you change your theme later, the posts change with it. Each post gets a title, a URL slug, a meta description and internal links to your other pages.
What happens on Squarespace that does not happen elsewhere
Squarespace handles URLs in its own way. Slugs are set per post and the blog collection decides the path, so HaloSEO reads your existing URL pattern before it writes anything. Squarespace also caches pages and pushes them through its own CDN. New posts can take a short while to appear to visitors and to search engines. HaloSEO accounts for both when it plans internal links, so links point at paths that will exist.
What breaks, and what happens when it does
The common failures are a revoked or expired API key, a blog collection that was deleted or renamed, and a plan change that removes API access. When a publish fails, HaloSEO stops and flags the post in your dashboard with the error it received. It does not retry in a loop and it does not publish a partial post. You reconnect the key or fix the collection, then approve the post again. Nothing is lost in the meantime.
Who this is not right for
This is not right for you if your Squarespace site has no blog collection and you do not want one. It is not right for you if you need every post edited by hand before it goes live, because HaloSEO is built to publish on a schedule. It is also not right for you if you sell services in many cities and want one page per city written by a person. HaloSEO writes and publishes, but it does not replace a local strategist.
